It’s been a month since I returned from Morocco and now I finally found the time to put together some thoughts about it. Morocco trip was great, and there is a post coming which will be all about tips and the favourite places we visited, but today I’ll talk about one of my favourite accommodations: Riad Karmela in Marrakech. I was traveling with my friend Maša from Perfelicious, and we recived the warmest welcome when we arrived. I love how you get served traditional tea and some desserts when right after you step in to Riad.
Every room has a bit different theme, and we got a spacious room in red hues and poppy pattern all over. The bed was comfortable, and after a few night sleeping on smaller beds it was the best thing ever. In the room we got welcomed with some fresh fruit and the next night with Rose before the bed. Internet connection was very fast and we sure did take advantage of it.
THE BEST PEOPLE
People working in hotels are what can make or break my stay. Here they made sure that we have the best possible experience. Our host explained everything about the surroundings, gave us some tips and advised us to be back to Riad by 8PM, since we were two girls traveling alone in muslim country. That didn’t bother us at all since at the evenings the friendliest bat staff took care of us, and made sure our evenings were so much fun.
You can visit the spa in the Riad Karmela Princess across the street, which offers different treatments. We treated ourselves with Hammam exfoliation and hair treatment, and didn’t know exactly what to expect. I imagined it like a steam sauna, but it was more like a nice warm room, where they exfoliated our skin and put different oil treatments on our hair. The result was very soft skin and shiny hair. As if this wasn’t enough we finished our spa day with full body massage which felt like heaven. Perfect spa day for sure.
BREAKFAST ON TERRACE
Breakfast in Riad Karmela is served on the colorful rooftop terrace. I loved that we could eat breakfast outside, and I also loved everything that they served. You can get eggs by your choice, the most delicious home made yogurt and goat cheese, with the side of traditional pastry. We also got to enjoy the terrace in the evening with a glass of wine in our hands.
Another important thing about choosing accommodation is of course location. I love when I have everything in the walking distance and Riad Karmela offered just that. It’s located in old Medina and we took 15 minute walk to eat on Jeema el Fna or at Nomad, our favorite restaurant. Even though it was located in the center, the nights were quiet, so we could enjoy some down time after hectic days.
I sure will miss the smell of fresh roses in the well every morning and the warmest people from Riad. If you are traveling around Marrakech make sure you check it out and also take a look at Riad Karmela Princess which is just across the street and has the nicest terrace for sure.
